Daily UI Challenge 006 - User Profile

WHAT: daily UI challenge for UI exercising

WHY: I want to be more familiar with the UX/UI tools

HOW: a UI design prompt is generated by Daily UI, find a UI example that I like and try to replicate that design, and have a self-reflection for each challenge

Today's UI Challenge: User Profile

Design a user profile and be mindful of the most important data, names, imagery, placement, etc. Is it for a serious profile? A social profile? (It's up to you!)

Tools and resources that I used for this challenge

Design Tools: Figma

UI example Source: Mimo profile screen downloaded from Mobbin

My process

I have been using Mimo for two weeks, and I really like the app using gamification to make learning code an easy and fun process. I thought why not just do the user profile for this UI exercise. I downloaded the user profile from Mobbin and start to replicate the design. I picked a font that is close to the original, but it doesn't have a bold font weight. That causes some of the labels to be less visible when compared with the original.

Try something new

I forgot what's the benefit to upgrade as PRO, so I thought it may be easier to remind the user what's the benefit when asking for an upgrade. The other change I group the status cards with the share progress button. The status cards are static and not clickable, and the share progress button is for the user to share his/her status on social media. I think it may sense to group them together as related items. Finally, I changed the label of Career to Career Program to make it clear to understand.

More thoughts...

I noticed the + ADD BIO, but I don't know how useful is that to me or to others. I like that I can use whatever name I want and compete with other people. The competition encourages me to learn codes every day to stay on top of the list. On the other hand, Learning code on a mobile phone doesn't help me code on a computer. I install Mimo on my phone and iPad. When I use the iPad app with a keyboard, it is close to coding on a computer with a smaller screen. After all, I will still use Mimo because it is fun. It helped me refresh my memories of HTML and CCS, and I really hope I can learn Javascript this time.
